Obituary of William H Lixfield

William H. Lixfield of Town of Poughkeepsie died at home on May 20, 2023 at the age of 86. He was born on October 21, 1936 in Cornwall, NY. He is the son of the late Howard Lixfield and Dorothy (Darling) Lixfield. He graduated from Cornwall High School. William was employed by Texaco Research Center, Glenham, NY, where he became supervisor of records management retiring in 1996 after a 40 year career. On April 22, 1961 he married Irene (Ryan) in All Saints Church in Ware, MA. They recently celebrated their 62nd year wedding anniversary. William enjoyed watching sports, especially baseball and Nascar Racing, often with his faithful cat “Clara” on his lap. He was a member of the U.S. National Guard (Newburgh), he was also a 50 year member of the Hudson Valley Volunteer Firemen’s Association. He is survived his loving wife Irene, his son William and daughter-in-law Ann, daughter Susan Irwin, grandchildren Andrew Irwin (Lauren), Megan Irwin (will), Courtney Irwin (Brian), great grandson Maddox Irwin, extended family Erica, Piper, Paige, and Peter. William was predeceased by his grandson Jason Sweet. Prayer services by Pastor Ross Topliff at Hudson Valley Funeral Home were private. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery New Windsor, NY Arrangements are under the care of Hudson Valley Funeral Home.
